About Us

Marlboro Township has several volunteer EMS/Fire organizations. The Township has three Fire Districts - Marlboro (District 1), Robertsville (District 2) and Morganville (District 3). In the Morganville District, there are two fire companies-Morganville Independent (Route 79) and Morganville Volunteer (Tennent Road). There are also two first aid squads - Marlboro (Wyncrest Road) and Morganville (Tennent Road). All agencies are dispatched to your emergency through the 9-1-1 system at the Marlboro Township Police Headquarters.

For almost 100 years, the members of Morganville Volunteer Fire Department have served the community with pride and dedication.  We continue to be an all-volunteer organization that relies on your continued support to supplement necessary resources. We rely on the service of volunteers to provide fire protection for the community; we are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.

We began the Company in 1914 on Tennent Road across from Skip's Garage. Our building was where the parking lot is between the professional building and the white house. There were three people who would receive the phone call when the fire department was needed and they would activate the siren. The first fireman to the building would pick up the dedicated phone that would ring in their houses/business and would let them know the location and nature of the fire call. There was also a need for the township to have their own first aid squad. We worked with the Matawan Boro Squad to get them off the ground, with several of our members joining as Charter Members. They housed their vehicle in our building until we built a building for them next to ours, which is now the Professional Building. The squad moved their location in the 80's to 277 Tennent Road.

During the 1950's through the early 70's we held an annual fair to help us raise funds to run the fire company. This was held on our property which was on the corner of Route 79 and Tennent Road (currently where Crossroads Strip Mall and the Bank are).

In the early 70's we sold the fairground property to Central Jersey Bank and built our current building at 78 Tennent Road. Over the years we expanded the garage to house larger and more trucks to meet the needs of the community.

Our dedicated men and women are all volunteers and ready to respond to your emergencies:

  • 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and 365 days per year
  • All times of the day and night
  • In all types of weather

They leave their jobs and their families at a moment’s notice, ready to place their lives in harms way to protect your lives and property.  Many man hours each year are placed into:

  • Responses to your emergencies
  • Training and drills
  • Developing prevention and education programs
  • Participating in community events

This type of dedication and commitment is tough to come by, yet it is one of the reasons that Marlboro Township is great place to live and work.  These firefighters are your neighbors, friends and co-workers. We need your support to be able to continue to fulfill our mission of providing the best services in fire protection, fire prevention and education to the citizens of our township.
